MANILA — The Department of Agriculture on Monday announced that it would extend the ban on the importation of red onions until August.

"Hindi [talaga kailangan] mag-import ng onions, so I guess we would be extending (the ban) on a monthly basis," Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said.

The importation ban was set last January and scheduled to end this month as the DA projected sufficient local supply.
