George Calvelo, ABS-CBN News/File</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The records of around 42 million individuals are possibly affected by the 2023 data breach on Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), according to the National Privacy Commission (NPC).</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/video/news/09/26/23/hackers-demand-ransom-for-philhealth-database">• Hackers demand $300,000 ransom for PhilHealth database</a></div><p>NPC’s Maria Theresita Patula issued the statement during Monday’s oversight hearing of the House Committee on Appropriations regarding the budget of PhilHealth and the Department of Health.</p><p>&quot;For NPC, we were able to see that there were case files with patient medical record, billing file with member records, member record of rebel returnees (PAMANA), PWD member records also showing password, indigent billing records, killed in action and killed in operation, senior citizens,” Patula said.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/10/08/23/philhealth-calls-for-public-cooperation-on-data-breach">• PhilHealth appeals to public to refrain from sharing leaked data</a></div><p>“That’s a significant portion… Medyo nakakabahala,” Committee Vice Chairperson and Marikina City 2nd District Representative Stella Quimbo replied.</p><p>The NPC said the affected individuals should be informed of the nature of the breach, how it happened, the data compromised, and protection measures.</p><p>PhilHealth Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Eli Santos told the panel that they implemented measures to inform the affected subjects regarding the data breach. </p><p>But he admitted that not all individuals affected have been informed.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/spotlight/10/13/23/was-your-philhealth-data-leaked-check-here">• Was your PhilHealth data leaked?
