Darren defines true friendship and love in “Can Buy or Can’t Buy” Challenge

While taping for his current teleserye, the DonBelle-starrer “Can’t Buy Me Love,” Darren Espanto is able to discover a few important things about love. One is that love can never be bought, rather, it must be genuine and not measured by money.

“Whatever you have right now, parang, it shouldn’t be a factor in falling in love or loving someone,” he mused. The same goes with trying to buy a friend. He said, “’Yung mga tunay na kaibigan, hindi sila nadadala sa kung ano ang estado mo sa buhay, kung anong kaya mong ibigay sa kanila, kung anong ambag mo sa friendship n’yo.”

He sounded like a love and friendship guru in this “Can Buy o Can’t Buy” Challenge in which he went through a list of scenarios or things and decide if he can or cannot afford them now.

While he’s actually able to buy new gadgets, Darren doesn’t purchase a new model if the old one is still working. He has the same principle about buying a car.

The same goes for overseas vacation, which he can certainly afford (he last went on a international travel during the Halloween break) but conflict of schedule will likely get in the way.

He can also buy his comfort food which includes sisig, adobo , and kare-kare.
