While there are many bizarre methods of predicting the upcoming US presidential election, one Ohio bakery really takes the biscuit.

Busken Bakery, a family-run business which has been in the baking business for nearly 100 years, is once again predicting the results of the upcoming elections by counting sales of cookies with cartoons of the presidential candidates' faces on them.

"Historically, we have been doing a cookie poll for 40 years now," said Dan Busken, the president and CEO of Busken Bakery.

He added "The great story here is that we've been accurate in nine out of ten elections over the last 40 years. So we have a pretty good track record of our customers predicting the next president."

The one year they got wrong was Joe Biden's win in 2020, although Trump and some of his supporters might say the bakery was correct.

This year, as of November 1, Trump is leading with 30,943 cookies versus Kamala Harris with 11,960. The independent vote, which is illustrated by a yellow smiley face, has had 2,159 sales.

However, Busken is concerned this year's prediction may be off, because of the intervention of a certain billionaire.

"So Elon (Musk) retweeted an article about our cookie poll and immediately we started shipping Trump cookies in quantities of hundreds or more all across the country. So that little tweet definitely has maybe skewed the results this year more than any other cookie poll," said Busken.

He added "But as the owner, you know, I'll take it. Cookie sales are up and that's exciting, regardless of who's buying what candidate."
