A black bear was captured snatching a bird feeder and running away with the attached camera in New Gloucester, Maine on Monday (July 22).

The video shows the bear making several attempts to reach for sunflower seeds, before knocking the bird feeder to the ground and tearing the attached camera from its post. The bear proceeded to run away with the camera, while it was still recording.

The owner of the bird feeder, Jeff Meissner, said he checked the video on Tuesday (July 23) morning after noticing his bird feeder was missing.

According to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Maine is home to the largest black bear population in the east of the United States, and the animals are especially active between April 1 and November 1.
