Morisette to star in movie musical 'Song of the Fireflies'

MANILA – Morisette Amon is set to star in a musical film based on the story of the world-renowned Loboc Children’s Choir (LCC).On social media, Amon proudly announced the project, saying she is honored to star in a movie for the first time and be working with the makers of the musical film “Ang Larawan.”Titled “Song of the Fireflies,” Amon will be playing the role of LCC’s mentor Alma Taldo.Her co-stars include Rachel Alejandro, Krystal Brimner, Noel Comia, Jr., Cris Villonco, Donny Pangilinan and the current members of the LCC.<script src="https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v2.5" async="" type="text/javascript"></script><div class="fb-post" data-href="https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=842019672893197" data-width="auto"> </div>The LCC is a singing group composed of students from the Loboc Central Elementary School. From humble beginnings as a school-based choir founded in 1980, the LCC has brought Loboc’s musical heritage to the international arena and has become one of the world’s most acclaimed youth choirs. Producers Celeste Legaspi, Girlie Rodis and Alejandro opted to tell the LCC’s story to pay tribute to the group’s amazing rise. “Whenever people ask why we decided to produce a film about the Loboc Children’s Choir, we tell them it’s a story that inspires – a simple school teacher had a wish to help the children in her community and from that simple wish was born a world-class choir,” Rodis said.“Song of the Fireflies” reunites the producers with National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab who also composed the music of “Ang Larawan.” Cayabyab is also co-musical director of “Song of the Fireflies,” with his daughter Krina.The movie will be helmed by King Palisoc, who also directed the action-drama “Tandem.”
