<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img alt="Photo by Grace Rutao, ABS-CBN News" src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2022/entertainment/03/18/03182022-kit-thompson-under-police-custody-for-allegedly-hurting-girlfriend.jpg"/><figcaption>Actor Kit Thompson is now detained at the Tagaytay Police Station after allegedly hurting his girlfriend on March 18, 2022. <em>Photo: Grace Rutao, ABS-CBN News</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA — <strong>(UPDATED)</strong> Actor Kit Thompson is now under the custody of the Tagaytay Police after allegedly detaining and hurting his girlfriend.</p><p>Authorities rescued Thompson&#x27;s partner after receiving a call from a hotel in Barangay Silang Crossing East, Tagaytay City.</p><p>Initial police reports said that the victim called 911 at 6:30 a.m. Friday, saying she had been allegedly mauled earlier that morning.</p><p>Police said she and Thompson had a misunderstanding stemmed in jealousy, which ended up with the actor allegedly hitting his girlfriend.</p><p>Charges have been filed against Thompson, violating provisions of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act. </p><p>Inquest proceedings were done Friday afternoon before Tagaytay City Asst. Prosecutor Atty. Ranier Desecada.</p><p>The victim, meanwhile, is still undergoing medical treatment for her injuries.</p><p>Tagaytay Police were also alerted of the incident after Thompson’s girlfriend sent a picture of herself to her friends, asking for help. </p><p>The picture, where she shows her injuries and black eye, has gone viral on Twitter.</p><p>Hotel staff also called authorities after checking the commotion in the room where the couple were staying. </p><p>They, however, declined to give further details on the incident and will instead give a statement to the Tagaytay Police.</p><p>Cornerstone Entertainment, the firm that manages Thompson, said that as of posting time, it could not give a response or comment on the incident as it has yet to receive a formal report.</p><p>“However, we request the public to be mindful of casting judgment based on unfounded reports circulating online,” the Cornerstone statement added.</p><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">Official statement from Cornerstone Entertainment <a href="https://t.co/gyf8ZW4Ecd">pic.twitter.com/gyf8ZW4Ecd</a></p>— Niko Baua (@Nikobaua) <a href="https://twitter.com/Nikobaua/status/1504648818067120128?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 18, 2022</a></blockquote><div><script async="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charSet="utf-8" type="text/javascript"></script></div><p>For its part, the Gabriela Party-list expressed its “deep concern” over the incident, noting that the alleged mauling comes as the nation celebrates Women’s Month.</p><p>“We support the conduct of a full investigation on the incident, as we reiterate our stand against violence against women. Nothing justifies the acts of violence inflicted on women by their partners. This latest incident highlights the need to amplify the #LabananAngAbuso campaign to end violence against women,” Gabriela said in a statement Friday.</p><p>Thompson, 25, first gained popularity in 2012 after joining &quot;Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition 4&quot; as a housemate.</p><p>He publicly confirmed his relationship with his girlfriend via Instagram last December.</p><div><strong>--- with reports from Niko Baua and Grace Rutao, ABS-CBN News</strong></div><p>(Ed&#x27;s note: An earlier version of this story identified Thompson&#x27;s girlfriend.
