Morissette joins other Asian artists in 'One Love Asia' benefit concert

<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2020/news/05/25/image-(2).jpg"/><figcaption>Morissette Amon. <em>Handout</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA — Morisette Amon did not think twice about giving her nod when asked to join the “One Love Asia” concert at this time of pandemic to raise funds for the children in the region.</p><p>“It is my honor to represent the Philippines, performing in ‘One Love Asia’ to make my country proud again and all for a noble cause,” Morissette said of the concert which is supported by a worldwide organization, UNICEF. “Everyone knows this pandemic has affected the whole world. The more people we are able to help out in any way, the better.”</p><p>Morisette is pleased and really thrilled to be included in the lineup of performers, saying she cannot be any prouder. “I think it&#x27;s admirable how artists from different countries all over Asia are gathering together, though virtually, uniting in positivity and, of course, through music,” she said.</p><p>Previously, Morisette has done five local fundraisers, either as a solo effort or joining other Filipino artists all during the lockdown period. “One Love Asia” is the first international fundraiser during this pandemic that Morisette is participating in. </p><p>Joining her from the Philippines are Christian Bautista and Rico Blanco.</p><p>The four-hour concert happens on May 27, starting at 8 p.m. Featured are the biggest stars from Asia, such as Exile Akira, Karen Mok, Apink Jung Eun-Ji, Namewee, Chi Pu, Sam Tsui, Ranz and Niana, Davika Hoome, Jack Neo, Boy William, Ice Paris, Pearwah, Baim Wong, Raditya Dika, Ismail Izzani, Quang Dang, DatG and DuUyen, Erik, Inul Daratista, Celine Tam, Priscilla Abby, HaoRen and singer-songwriter G.E.M.</p><p>UNICEF regional ambassador for East Asia and Melvin Wong, vice president for music of WebTVAsia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, said they had a pool of artists to reach out to. The artists were individually lined up and requested if they can participate in the concert.</p><p>“I contacted a great friend of mine in the Philippines (Anne Poblador). We used to work together during our music label days and she connected me with David Cosico,” Wong said. “I heard about David prior as he manages some of the credible talents in the Philippines and noticed Morissette was under his management. Coincidentally, Morissette was listed in the working lineup. So perfect!”</p><p>Cosico is president of RankOne Productions and Entertainment. He has been travelling all over the US, Asia and Europe meeting with key people on a number of projects lined up for Morisette, whom he also manages. </p><p>The initiative of lining up all the Asian artists to perform in “One Love Asia” live concert is a collective effort from the team behind the show. “It’s always not easy when you need to reach out across Asia,” Wong said. “Fortunately, most of the artists have expressed their positivity and support towards this good cause to help during these trying times.”</p><p>Morissette made it to the list because of her “persona and charisma” as a multi-talented performer. “She fits the theme of this ‘One Love Asia’ concept,” Wong said. “&#x27;One Love Asia’ is dedicated to the Asian artist across Asia to bring together one message that ‘You are not alone’ in support of UNICEF and our co-presenting partner, YouTube, to help this ongoing global pandemic that we are facing with so many obstacles in our daily lives.”</p><p>This is not the first time for Morisette to perform in a fundraising benefit for the children of UNICEF. “Just recently, as I&#x27;ve been helping out different organizations during this pandemic, UNICEF was one of the partners of Lazada&#x27;s ‘LazForGood’ campaign in raising funds for those in need,” Morisette pointed out.</p><p>The show that gathers top Asian artists to perform in a four-hour gig is one of the biggest initiatives from the Asian entertainment community to prove its support to UNICEF through one cohesive message of “love and unity,” according to WebTVAsia CEO Fred Chong. “We cannot thank all the participants enough for being a part of this special concert,” he said.</p><p>“One Love Asia” is a star-studded concert jointly presented by WebTVAsia and YouTube. The stellar line-up of celebrities, artists, public figures and YouTube creators across Asia will be live streamed on the exclusive YouTube channel of &#x27;One Love Asia,&#x27;” Chong said.</p><p>For a concert this magnitude and newsworthy size, this the first time that WebTVAsia partnered with YouTube to mount a concert for a cause like “One Love Asia.” Wong is now busy consolidating all the artists&#x27; materials and designing the flow of the show to give the audience an experience watching a concert online.</p><p>Time is the biggest challenge in mounting the concert, according to Wong. “We were working on such a tight timeline to gather these artists together, the PR communications, the correspondence with various counterparts and our partners. Overall, the team played a tremendous role in supporting each other to have made this a reality.”</p><p>All donations from the livestream will go to UNICEF Asia in an effort to prevent the pandemic from becoming a lasting crisis for vulnerable children.</p><p>Chong acknowledged how Asian countries and the people have been severely impacted by the pandemic, so the overwhelming response from the artists and YouTube to support this UNICEF Asia donation drive, makes this project truly special.</p><p>The “One Love Asia” concert is part of UNICEF’s #Reimagine global campaign to task the global community to #Reimagine a better world for children post COVID 19.</p><p>The live stream will be available through www.youtube,com/c/oneloveasia, where the donation can be made through YouTube “Donate Now” button that directly pays to UNICEF’s account while the concert is ongoing and will continue to be available for 30 days after the show. </p><figure class="op-interactive"><iframe height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/MGNi6Mrdo24?enablejsapi=1" width="560"></iframe></figure><div class="iwantbar">Watch more in <a href="//www.iwantv.com.ph/">iWantv</a> or <a href="//tfc.tv/">TFC.tv</a></div>
