Veteran actor Eddie Garcia hospitalized after neck fracture

<figure class="op-interactive"><iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1It04Zx-GmY?enablejsapi=1"></iframe></figure><div class="iwantbar">Watch more in <a href="//www.iwantv.com.ph/">iWantv</a> or <a href="//tfc.tv/">TFC.tv</a></div><p>MANILA --<strong> (5th UPDATE)</strong> Multi-awarded actor Eddie Garcia suffered a neck fracture while he was shooting a television series for GMA-7 in Manila, his family said Saturday.</p><p>&quot;He is still under critical observation and all his doctors are doing their best to assure that he gets the best care,&quot; read the statement, released through GMA-7 executive Redgie Magno.</p><p>On Sunday, Dr. Enrique Lagman, Garcia&#x27;s family doctor, said the actor did not suffer a heart attack as earlier reported.</p><ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/06/09/19/eddie-garcia-suffered-neck-fracture-not-heart-attack-says-doctor">Eddie Garcia suffered neck fracture, not heart attack, says doctor</a></li></ul><p>Hours before the announcement, pictures circulated on social media showing a seemingly unconscious Garcia being carried by several men while a crowd gathered around.</p><p>Netizens earlier claimed the 90-year-old actor was rushed to a hospital in Tondo, Manila where he was revived, and was eventually transferred to a hospital in Quezon City.</p><p>&quot;Our family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all those who have expressed concerns and extended prayers,&quot; the statement read.</p><p>&quot;Please continue praying for Tito Eddie&#x27;s fast recovery . . . We would like to request his fans and everyone to pray with us so he could get better the soonest possible time.&quot;</p><p>Garcia remained at the Mary Johnston Hospital in Tondo, as of this posting.</p><p>Staff of the TV show he was filming visited him earlier along with actor John Regala and former Manila mayor Joseph Estrada. They were followed by Senator-elect Bong Revilla and his wife Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado.</p><p>In 2012, Garcia acknowledged to suffering from &quot;slight sleep apnea&quot; which he quickly got checked at the Makati Medical Center, but remained generally healthy in the next few years.</p><p>Garcia has been part of the Philippine entertainment industry since the early 1950s, portraying both lead characters and villains in action, comedy, drama, and even fantasy films and television series.</p><p>His last project with ABS-CBN was a role on the Coco Martin-led primetime teleserye &quot;Ang Probinsyano,&quot; portraying a drug lord.
