MANILA — Derek Ramsay’s throwback post quoting a line from his character in “One More Chance,” about finding and loving oneself, drew on Tuesday harsh words from detractors about his recent breakup with model and fitness personality Joanne Villablanca.

“Don’t ever think it was a mistake to find yourself—that you chose to love yourself a little bit more,” went the quote from his character Mark in the 2007 modern classic, about the separation and reconciliation of a long-term couple.

In light of his breakup with Villablanca, some followers of Ramsay appeared to link the actor’s choice of throwback quote to his personal situation, albeit in a negative way.

One referred to the quote as the “main excuse of a guy who wants out because he’s eyeing his new prey,” before calling Ramsay a “predator.”

While Ramsay opted for a short response to the jab — only writing, “If you say so” — he sparred with another follower who accused him of being a narcissist who is unable to commit.

“You always self-lovin’,” that other follower commented. “That’s why you never had a successful relationship and never ever became a family man too. How can a woman choose to marry a narcissistic like you! Always lookin’ for the next victim… Poor women!”

Ramsay, 42, answered: “Wow you really know me dear don’t you. You shouldn’t really say anything about nothing you know about. Just saying.”

The same critic then had a heated exchange with Ramsay’s fans who came to his defense. At that point, she brought up his supposed streak of “failed long-term relationships.”

“It only reflects he is the problem,” the basher wrote. “That’s why his popularity has dwindled [with] women, because of these news. He can’t commit because he only loves himself.”

In a succeeding answer, Ramsay mentioned for the first time his former girlfriend.

Addressing the detractor, the actor wrote: “Dear you should just unfollow me so that all this negativity can stop. I’d respect your opinion if you knew how to express it. But with that said, Jo and I didn’t work. That doesn’t make me or her a bad person. Have a good life, dear.”
