Why Sharon Cuneta is not returning to ‘Voice Kids’

<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/news/07/14/voice.jpg"/><figcaption>Sharon Cuneta (right) first joined Lea Salonga and Bamboo as coaches on ‘The Voice’ in 2016, for the singing competition’s third ‘Kids’ edition. <em>ABS-CBN</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA — The coaches have assembled for the return of “The Voice Kids,” but notably missing is music veteran Sharon Cuneta.</p><p>Cuneta was one of three coaches in the third season of “The Voice Kids” in 2016, and one of four in the debut season of “The Voice Teens” in 2017.</p><p>The recently announced fourth season of “The Voice Kids,” which has wrapped its Blind Auditions taping, will see the reunion of original coaches Lea Salonga, Bamboo, and Sarah Geronimo.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/entertainment/07/04/20190704-sarah-bamboo-lea.jpg"/><figcaption>Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, and Lea Salonga reunite for the fourth season of ‘The Voice Kids.’ <em>Shiela Reyes, ABS-CBN News</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>Traditionally, that edition of “The Voice” for child aspirants only has three coaches, unlike the adult and teen versions which has four.</p><p>Over the weekend, Cuneta explained why she is no longer part of “The Voice Kids,” in response to an Instagram follower who asked about her absence from the announced coaches.</p><p>“I cannot stand the stress kasi,” she wrote. “I become so attached to the kids and it weighs heavily on my heart ‘pag kailangan na mag-eliminate. arm Star Magic and the director of “The Voice.”</p><p>Geronimo similarly sought a break from “The Voice” — skipping the 2016 “Kids” edition which saw Cuneta’s introduction as a coach — because of the “pressure” of rearing aspiring singers, and determining their fate in the competition.</p><p>Cuneta, in a separate Instagram comment, said she will meantime focus on movies and concerts, including a collaboration with Regine Velasquez.</p>
