MANILA -- Matteo Guidicelli is officially a second lieutenant of the Philippine Army.

This after President Rodrigo Duterte signed Guidicelli's papers, allowing the actor to move up from being a probationary second lieutenant.

Guidicelli's girlfriend, Sarah Geronimo, was present at the "donning of the ranks" ceremony at the Philippine Army headquarters in Taguig on Tuesday.

It was last April when Guidicelli joined the Philippine Army as a reservist, saying it is his way of showing love for his country.

Prior to his entry as an Army reservist, he also joined the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary alongside celebrities Erwan Heussaff and Nico Bolzico.
