<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/life/09/05/20190905-pamilya-ko-2.jpg"/><figcaption>Sylvia Sanchez and JM de Guzman portray mother and son in ‘Pamilya Ko.’ <em>ABS-CBN</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA — “Pamilya Ko,” ABS-CBN’s new primetime drama, promises tears and lessons with its relatable story about a family whose everyday problems are compounded by a tragic past and a secret that threatens to tear them apart.</p><p>Set to start airing on Monday, September 9, at 5:45 p.m., “Pamilya Ko” features an ensemble cast portraying the Mabunga family: parents Fernan (Joey Marquez) and Luzviminda (Sylvia Sanchez), and their eight children, including the eldest Chico (JM de Guzman).</p><p>The rest of the siblings are played by Kiko Estrada, Kid Yambao, Jairus Aquino, Maris Racal, Kira Balinger, Mutya Orquia, and Raikko Mateo — lending different dynamics, both warm and cold, to the fictional Mabunga home.</p><p>“Ito ‘yung scenario na typical, ordinary Filipino family,” Marquez said of what to expect from the series. “Minsan aakalain nila, walang solusyon sa mga pang-araw-araw na problema. Persi (Aquino) credits his family in his valedictory address in a touching moment, while Chico scolds Beri (Estrada) over his vice, hinting at a simmering rivalry, in another scene.</p><p>Luzviminda is mostly seen as a doting mom to all her children, except for one. She appears to have lingering resentment for her eldest over the death of another family member years prior.</p><p>“May mga eksena kami na tumatawa kami, pero paiiyakin namin kayo. Mayroon din kaming umiiyak kami, pero patatawanin kayo. Despite the circumstances, Luzviminda yet again blames her son, this time for endangering the life of her husband.</p><p>According to Marquez, “Pamilya Ko” aims to show that challenges ultimately strengthen the bond of a family — a lesson Sanchez is confident will reach viewers of all ages, given the series’ late-afternoon time slot.</p><p>“Lahat ng problema, mahirap man o mabigat, basta mayroong pagmamahalan — kasi iyon lang naman ang key doon, e, ‘yung pagmamahalan — lahat masosolusyonan,” she said.</p><p>Directed by Raymund Ocampo, “Pamilya Ko” also stars Alyssa Muhlach and Arci Muñoz.</p>
