He conquered his fear of getting ignored and apologized for what he did. </p><p>&quot;Bro, hindi ko sinasadyang may maramdaman ako sa &#x27;yo,&quot; Ali said.</p><p>(Bro, I didn’t intend to have feelings for you.)</p><p>Although Basti was still in shock after all that happened lately, he remained reasonable and even sympathetic of Ali&#x27;s situation.</p><p>For him, Ali was not wrong for falling in love. What he couldn&#x27;t understand is why Ali had to lie. </p><p>&quot;Bro, I&#x27;m sorry, nagulat lang ako sa sinabi mo. I admit, sumama ang loob ko. But not because you are gay. Okay lang sa akin &#x27;yon. But because you didn&#x27;t tell me the truth,&quot; Basti replied. </p><p>(Bro, I’m sorry. I was surprised with what you said. I admit, I felt bad, but not because you are gay but because you had to lie.)</p><p>Seeing that their conversation would take hours, the two decided to grab a bottle of beer and sit for a while. </p><p>&quot;Pasensya ka na bro, ha. Hindi ko rin alam e. Hindi ko naman inamin sa &#x27;yo dahil nag-e-expect ako na may maramdaman ka rin. Inamin ko sa &#x27;yo &#x27;yon dahil kaibigan kita,&quot; Ali said. &quot;Actually, &#x27;yon din &#x27;yong kinakatakot ko kasi baka masira &#x27;yong friendship natin. Baka isipin mo, kinakaibigan lang kita dahil gusto kita.&quot;</p><p>(Sorry if I didn’t tell you right away. I was hoping you’d feel something for me, too. I admitted my feelings for you because you are my friend. I don’t want you to feel that I am friends with you because I have feelings for you.)</p><p>Basti is willing to continue their friendship. Of course, it will be awkward at first. But they will eventually learn to accept it and move on. </p><p>&quot;Don&#x27;t worry. Nothing has to change. Huwag mong isipin &#x27;yon. (Don’t think about it.) I still got your back,&quot; Basti said. </p><p>And perhaps, at least for Ali and Basti, the best way to get rid of the awkwardness is by doing a fist-bump together. After all, it is the gesture of those in the friendzone.</p>
