The answer is that a $1 million (P53 million) return from overseas has pushed the worldwide box-office total of &quot;The Hows of Us&quot; past the P590 million mark, it was revealed this Wednesday. This means that it is now the most successful Filipino movie to not star Vice Ganda, topping the <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/12/19/15/a-second-chance-now-highest-grossing-pinoy-film" target="_blank">P556 million</a> worldwide total of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo&#x27;s &quot;A Second Chance&quot; back in 2015. Its current gross, as of 7 p.m. Wednesday, stands at P591 million overall, Star Cinema announced during a thanksgiving party, putting it just behind the <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/01/10/17/super-parental-guardians-earns-p598-m-after-five-weeks" target="_blank">P598 million</a> worldwide record of Vice Ganda&#x27;s &quot;The Super Parental Guardians.&quot; Although it remains unclear whether that&#x27;s still the record, given the worldwide total of last year&#x27;s &quot;Gandarappido: The Revenger Squad&quot; --another Vice Ganda movie-- was not made public. It was last reported to have earned <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/01/18/18/vice-ganda-breaks-own-local-box-office-record-with-revengers" target="_blank">P571 million</a>, handing it the distinction of being the highest-grossing local film domestically. What&#x27;s clear though is that &quot;The Hows of Us&quot; is now the biggest Pinoy movie of all time to not feature Vice Ganda. It&#x27;s a remarkable run made by the country&#x27;s phenomenal love team Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo, considering that it was not released in December --usually the busiest season for cinema owners.It rolled out to more than 200 cinemas near the end of August. But thanks to good reviews and highly positive word-of-mouth from its fans, that number soon ballooned to more than 400. Its promotional campaign involved Padilla and Bernardo finally admitting to being in a relationship, and it being billed as the last movie starring the pair to be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
