<p>MANILA – Heart Evangelista was at a loss for words when she learned about the passing of Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, whom she considered as her second mother and mentor.</p><p>Unknown to some, Defensor Santiago was the one who introduced Evangelista to her husband, Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, after the actress broke up with her former boyfriend Daniel Matsunaga.</p><p>Defensor Santiago and Evangelista became close after the death of the late senator’s son, who supposedly had a big crush on the actress.</p><p>In a series of posts on Instagram, Evangelista mourned Defensor Santiago’s passing by recalling how the late feisty senator showed her “so much of the world.”</p><p>“You would read Vogue for me and in return I would study your law books... You made me study the ‘serious Einstein subjects’ and bring me to meet the ‘kings and queens’ the way you would say it... You showed me so much of the world, put on my slippers when I had a migraine and fed me the best lobsters in bed,” she wrote.</p><p>Evangelista also remembered the times that she slept over at Defensor Santiago’s house so they could stay up until 2 a.m. and just talk about Cleopatra and Grace Kelly.</p><p>Evangelista believes Defensor Santiago will continue to be her guardian angel.</p><p>To help ease her pain over the passing of her “super mom,” Evangelista said she will just think that Defensor Santiago just “travelled to see your son who you just imagine is studying abroad.”</p><p>“I love you so much!!!!
