<figure class="op-interactive"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3ZPfH5z0gU4?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0" width="560"></iframe></figure><p>ANGELES CITY (UPDATED) - Actor Mark Anthony Fernandez was arrested Monday night by police in Pampanga province for marijuana possession.</p><p>According to Chief Insp. Francisco Guevara Jr., the former matinee idol tried to slip past a police checkpoint at around 8:30 p.m.</p><div><span style="color:rgb(38, 50, 56);font-family:arial, sans-serif;line-height:16px;widows:1">This led to a car chase resulting in police being forced to shoot the tire of Fernandez&#x27;s car. He was later arrested in the city of San Fernando.</span></div><p>Police found a kilo of marijuana, with an estimated street value of P15,000, inside Fernandez&#x27;s car.</p><p>He is currently detained at the Station 6 of the Angeles City Police, and will undergo a drug test Tuesday.</p><p>Fernandez claimed that he uses marijuana as &quot;medication to prevent cancer.&quot; He also said that the marijuana confiscated from him is his one-year supply.</p><p>This is not the first time that Fernandez was involved in drugs. The actor voluntarily entered the Bicutan Rehabilitation Center in 2004.</p><p>He made a showbiz comeback after six months.</p><p>He is a son of the late Rudy Fernandez with former Parañaque City councilor and actress Alma Moreno. </p><p>Fernandez may face charges for violating of sections 5, 11 and 15 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, police said.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/news-special1/regions/10/3/100316-marijuana.jpg"/><figcaption><div class="embed-desc">Around one kilo of marijuana was seized from actor Mark Anthony Fernandez, Angeles City police said. <em>Trisha Mostoles, ABS-CBN News</em></div></figcaption></figure></div>
