‘Grabe, naghahalimaw!’ Gian Magdangal wows Tawag with ‘Greatest Showman’ hit

<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/entertainment/10/16/gian-dulce-nyoy.jpg"/><figcaption>Theater actor Gian Magdangal gets a standing ovation from Tawag ng Tanghalan judges, including Dulce and Nyoy Volante. <em>ABS-CBN</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA — Gian Magdangal brought his experience from the theater stage to television via Tawag ng Tanghalan on Wednesday, earning a standing ovation from judges of the popular singing competiton.</p><p>Magdangal was one of four celebrity contenders who performed as part of the ongoing special edition of “It’s Showtime” segment.</p><p>Magdangal, whose most recent stage outing was “Ang Huling El Bimbo,” played to his strength as he took on a song from the movie musical, “The Greatest Showman.”</p><p>His rendition of “A Million Dreams” had the judges cheering midway through his number. All five, including head judge Dulce, were on their feet by the final note.</p><figure class="op-interactive"><iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/njDFFIHWZkI?enablejsapi=1"></iframe></figure><div class="iwantbar">Watch more in <a href="//www.iwantv.com.ph/">iWantv</a> or <a href="//tfc.tv/">TFC.tv</a></div><p>Two of the judges, Karylle and Kyla, happened to be Magdangal’s fellow performers a decade ago in the GMA-7 concert variety show “SOP.”</p><p>“Grabe ka,” Dulce told Magdangal. “Si Gian kasi, napaka-gentle na tao, napakabait, tapos pag kumanta siya, naghahalimaw!”</p><p>“Masaya lang ako na kumanta ka ngayon. Talagang pinaganda mo ‘yung araw namin. Ang ganda-ganda lang, wala na akong ibang sasabihin,” she added.</p><p>Magdangal’s applauded performance earned him the highest score of the day, besting fellow contenders Joed Serrano, Lie Reposposa, and Wilbert Ross.</p>
