Alice Dixson: ‘Because of my unprofessionalism, I lost a lot of work’

<p>MANILA — Screen veteran Alice Dixson has revealed that her quick rise to fame in her youth inflated her ego, which translated to her becoming unprofessional as an actress.</p><figure class="op-interactive"><div id="IVS_ABS_Body_Video_1_Container"> <ivs-player id="IVS_ABS_Body_Video_1" data-ivs-spid="3001339" data-ivs-key="e8c22c015ca9eafa76f1e3edfa03c603" data-ivs-vid="1382476" data-ivs-floating="1"></ivs-player> <script src="https://player.ivideosmart.com/ivsplayer/v4/dist/js/iframe-parent.js"></script> <script src="https://player.ivideosmart.com/ivsplayer/v4/dist/js/loader.js"></script> </div></figure><div class="iwantbar">Watch more in <a href="//www.iwantv.com.ph/">iWantv</a> or <a href="//tfc.tv/">TFC.tv</a></div><p>Dixson, whose acting career boomed in the late ‘80s, recalled her showbiz heydays in an interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” that aired on Monday.</p><p>The “Nuuk” star agreed when host Abunda mentioned that Dixson’s close friend, fellow actress Dina Bonnevie, once described her as “maldita” when they were younger.</p><p>“A lot of people got very upset with me. Because of my unprofessionalism, I lost a lot of work. That taught me na, ‘Hoy, mag ayos-ayos ka naman diyan,’” she said.</p><p>Aside from being late to her film sets frequently, Dixson was, in her words, a “primadonna” then, leading to arguments with Regal Films matriarch Lily Monteverde.</p><p>Dixson surmised that she behaved that way because she was juggling her studies, work, as well as her time for family and “love life.” That was also the time, she said, when she became popular too fast, “so lumaki ‘yung ulo ko.”</p><p>She credited her former husband Ronnie Miranda for putting “my feet back on the ground,” noting he was far removed from the showbiz industry.</p><p>That episode, Dixson recalled, was a learning experience which helped her navigate life in Canada, where she lived for a time prior to her return to acting.</p>
