The five-member group unveiled Monday its sixth extended play (EP) “minisode 3: TOMORROW,” which the boys described as rich in references to past releases throughout their vibrant five-year career.

“It’s an overarching story of all the concepts and stories that we had in the past,” member Huening Kai said through an interpreter during a media showcase held hours before the EP’s release.

“Since the word ‘tomorrow’ is on the album’s title, I think this really embodies the identity of our band,” Taehyun said. “I hope it touches your heart and I hope it’s kind of romantic to you. That’s what I’m looking forward to achieving.”

Since the album alludes to their past music, the members felt nostalgic during production — a feeling they believe will be shared by their fans called MOA.

“There are moments [in this album] that remind listeners of our past songs and I think that is what makes our music so intriguing,” Yeonjun said.

For example, the album’s second track is titled using Morse code. “When we just debuted, we also created content utilizing Morse code, so it reminded me of our debut and I felt quite nostalgic about that,” Yeonjun explained.

“I think the fans would also feel nostalgic about the Morse code,” he added.

The seven-track EP is fronted by the single “Deja Vu,” which brings together rage (a subgenre of trap) and emo rock music.

“It’s fresh and new but… it still feels like classic Tomorrow X Together because my bandmates are good at making things their own,” Beomgyu said.

Another reason why “Deja Vu” will strike as a TXT classic, Beomgyu said, is because of the lyrics’ references to previous singles like “Crown,” “9 and Three Quarters (Run Away)” and “LO$ER=LO♡ER.”

“We've told a lot of stories with our music so far and I felt a bit touched being reminded of our past promotions,” said Soobin, the group’s leader.

Taehyun stressed the importance of the group telling “our own story” through their music. “Because when it’s our own story, it’s more powerful and genuine,” he said.

And while the group has yet to decide what theme or story to tackle in future releases, “what I can say for sure is that it’s going to be our story and it’s going to resonate, hopefully, with a lot of people in terms of what they go through in their own lives,” Beomgyu said.

Upcoming tour

Apart from the comeback, TXT is also gearing up for its third world tour “Act: Promise,” which will kick off in Seoul in May before heading to cities across the United States.

Taehyun said fans can expect a much different setlist compared to the past tours, “Act: Lovesick” and “Act: Sweet Mirage.”

“We’re going to enjoy the moment and I hope everybody in the stadium will enjoy themselves to the fullest, that’s our goal,” he said.

“Even MOA who go to our concert for the first time would feel like they want to come back to our concert. I want to give that cherished moment as a present to MOA at our concert,” Beomgyu said.
