They are midway through what is shaping up to be a very busy month, and even the tireless leader of the Nation&#x27;s Girl Group needs to pump the brakes every once in a while.</p><p>Yet Jhoanna has no issues with deferring her rest, because going to work on Monday, April 15 means that one of her longtime dreams will come true.</p><p>&quot;Dedma ang rest,&quot; she told ABS-CBN News, an hour before she stepped into the studio as that night&#x27;s Star Patroller for TV Patrol. &quot;Okay lang ako kahit walang rest, basta for TV Patrol.&quot;</p><p>A few hours earlier, Jhoanna was in the newsroom, serving as the guest anchor of TV Patrol Express together with Chief of Reporters Jeff Canoy and Denice Dinsay. It was the second time that she had gone on TVP Express; this time around she also taught Canoy and Dinsay, as well as some interns, the dance steps to their latest hit, &quot;Salamin, Salamin.&quot;</p><div dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;text-align:justify;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:10pt"><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable" frameBorder="0" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lNIoqDD-p-w?&amp;t=592s&amp;ab_channel=ABS-CBNNews&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" width="640"></iframe></span></div><p>&quot;Kahit second time ko na &#x27;to, iba pa rin &#x27;yung kaba ko po. As in, super kabado ako na baka mamaya, mag-buckle ako. Kasi hello, kaharap ko sila Sir Jeff, &#x27;di ba, sila Miss Denice,&quot; says Jhoanna. &quot;Pero ginuide nila ako, and &#x27;yun &#x27;yung feeling kong super love ko, kaya gusto ko palagi na nasa newsroom ako.&quot;</p><p>&quot;Parang iba &#x27;yung love na nafi-feel ko, and &#x27;yung warm ng welcome nila sa akin, sobrang iba talaga. She recalls watching other ABS-CBN talents get the call to appear on the network&#x27;s flagship news program, and wondering -- &quot;Ay shucks, kailan kaya &#x27;yung turn ko? Kailan?&quot;</span></div><p>When her turn came on Monday, Jhoanna was impressive. She told ABS-CBN News that she was more excited than nervous, and her readiness for the moment was clear. Jhoanna did the lead-in for MJ Felipe&#x27;s report on BINI&#x27;s successful mall show over the weekend, and then shared with the national television audience her own story as an aspiring broadcast journalist -- in a segment that she herself wrote and did the voiceover for.</p><div dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;text-align:justify;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:10pt"><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable" frameBorder="0" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cdgWJFRTMv0?&amp;t=35s&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" width="640"></iframe></span></div><p>&quot;Tinulungan nila ako magsulat ng own news ko for BINI, and feeling ko kasi para mas maging personal po, and &#x27;yung own journey ko,&quot; Jhoanna said. &quot;Alam kasi ng mga Blooms namin na naging broadcaster ako, pero hindi nila alam &#x27;yung step-by-step ko.&quot;</p><p>&quot;Ako rin &#x27;yung nag-VO, nag-voice over, and nag-edit ng kaunti. Tinuruan nila ako. So thank you, thank you talaga, TV Patrol,&quot; she added. &quot;Sobrang laking bagay po &#x27;to for me. Nabuhayan talaga ako ng loob to pursue this dream.&quot;</p><p>Her dream of becoming a Star Patroller has now come to fruition, but the experience only served to further motivate Jhoanna. She has no doubt that there are more TV Patrol segments in her future -- though she makes it clear that her focus right now is on BINI.</p><p>&quot;Sabi ko nga, niloloko ko po kanina &#x27;yung mga EP po sa loob. Sabi ko, sabi kasi nila, ayun nga po, sana hindi ito &#x27;yung last, sana patuloy ko daw i-pursue itong dream ko na &#x27;to. Sabi ko, &#x27;Ay, kung mabibigyan po ako ng chance, pagsasabayin ko po ito sa BINI, kahit mahirap&#x27;,&quot; she says. </p><p>&quot;Pero for now, siyempre, doon tayo sa, focus muna talaga sa BINI. She is well aware of the work that she needs to do, all the skills that she still needs to learn. And she knows, too, the challenges that news media face in the Philippines, the danger that comes with working in the press. </p><p>Yet she is eager to learn and embrace the challenges, fueled by the energy she feels whenever she steps into the ABS-CBN newsroom.</p><p>&quot;Siyempre noong nag-pandemic and nag-shut down, parang medyo napag-isipan ko &#x27;yan. Na parang, &#x27;Okay, eto pa rin ba talaga &#x27;yung gusto kong i-pursue?&#x27; Kasi nga, parang ang hirap,&quot; she admits. &quot;Parang kailangan mo talagang ilaban para lang marinig &#x27;yung boses mo and boses ng ibang tao na ikaw &#x27;yung magsasabi.&quot;</p><p>&quot;Pero ngayon kasi, ewan ko. Nabuhayan talaga ako. Every time na babalik po talaga kami sa newsroom, iba &#x27;yung kutob ng puso ko eh,&quot; she says. &quot;Parang feeling ko, para dito talaga ako.&quot;</p><p>&quot;Super willing ako to learn. Alam kong wala pa sa 20% &#x27;yung alam ko pagdating sa mga ganito po. Pero siyempre, bago ako tumuntong talaga sa totoong ganoon, kung ano man &#x27;yung mga anchors natin, kailangan ko talagang aralin. Ayaw ko namang basta-bastang sumabak sa ganoon. Kasi siyempre sila, ilang years din &#x27;yung ginugol nila for ... kung nasaan man sila ngayon. So ako, gusto ko rin maranasan &#x27;yun.&quot;</p><p>For now, Jhoanna&#x27;s priorities are more immediate. BINI&#x27;s rise in recent months has been exponential, and it shows no signs of stopping.
