<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:950px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1715335968046Prolific-songwriter-Cecile-Azarcon--05102024.jpg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" alt=" Prolific songwriter Cecile Azarcon"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"> Prolific songwriter Cecile Azarcon </span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA -- &quot;Reachin’ Out&quot; by Gary Valenciano, &quot;How Did You Know?&quot; by Chiqui Pineda, and &quot;I Think I’m in Love&quot; by Kuh Ledesma were just some of the classic OPM hits written by Cecile Azarcon, who is considered as one of the country’s prolific songwriters.</p><p>The list goes on: &quot;Even If,&quot; &quot;Sana ay Ikaw na Nga,&quot; &quot;Ikaw ang Lahat Sa Akin.&quot;</p><p>And after seven years, Azarcon is back in Manila for her much awaited 45th anniversary concert at The Theater in Solaire in Pasay City.</p><p>Coincidentally, I was on the same Manila-bound flight from San Francisco with Azarcon and we caught up with her excitement for this concert.</p><p>“So very excited. It’s actually a tribute of sorts, because I am celebrating my 45th year anniversary in the music industry and it’s such a blessing,” said Azarcon.</p><p>What made her say yes?</p><p>“My gosh, who will say no? It is an honor. It is a priviledge. It is a blessing. And also, nothing like doing this with Viva, because of Mr. Vic del Rosario,” she said.</p><p>Del Rosario was the one who discovered Azarcon’s songwriting gift. She got her first big break as a songwriter at the age of 19. And it wasn’t even a love song but an inspiring track &quot;Lift Up Your Hands&quot; by Basil Valdez.</p><p>The lineup of performers for Azarcon’s concert is star-studded, to say the least -- Martin Nievera, Kuh Ledesma, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs, Fe Delos Reyes, Iwi Laurel, Jackielou Blanco, Mark Bautista, Katrina Velarde, Tim Pavino, Isabella, Nicole Asensio and Jam Morales, who will fly in from Albuquerque, New Mexico exclusively just to perform for the concert.</p><p>Nowadays, Azarcon is residing in San Francisco, California. She is currently the musical director of their church and while she is close to retiring from it, she is still thinking of going back into teaching.</p><p>&quot;The Music of Cecile Azarcon: A 45th Anniversary Concert&quot; will be held on May 24 and 25 at The Theatre At Solaire.</p><div><br/></div><div><br/></div>
