MANILA — OPM band The Juans teased fans that they wanted to play with "lighter tones" for their upcoming releases, the group said Tuesday.

With their songs like "Hindi Tayo Pwede," "Istorya," among others, the group wanted to mirror how Filipinos make challenging situations lighter like their songs "pwede ba kitang ligawan?" "Napagod Na" "Gupit" this year.

"Kami as a group gusto naming mag-try ng ibang flavor, kumbaga, ng bagong recipe sa kanta na 'to," Chael Adriano said.

"One of the heartbeat of our group is to write songs that are relatable to people and when you say relatable, it's only relatable when it's real, it's only relatable if it's something that people encounter," Carl Guevarra said.

"Something that's unique about Filipino culture, madrama tayong mga tao pero hindi tayo melodramatic palagi, mayroon tayong mga sad moments na we make fun of, sometimes 'yung mga malulungkot na moments ay ginagawa nating magaan," he added.

Guevarra added that this would show their versatility as a group.

"It's a beautiful way to show variety, a sad song does not need a sad score. Sometimes, sad lyrics can be told in a lighter tone. You can expect that there's more variety to the kind of music that we do siguro dahil ang strength namin is all of us are songwriters, makikita mo 'yung variation nung musical arrangement, hindi siya tali to a certain template," the lead vocalist said.

"People can expect variety of arrangements, variety of atake to the music but still the same themes, relatable topics, relatable songs kung anuman estado mo sa buhay, it's something that you can latch on and relate with," he added.

He also thanked their fans, who grew up with them, for their support.

"A lot of them have grown up already, some of them are full blown adults, from teenagers to adults, 'yung iba nung nag-college sila, hanggang maka-graduate, hanggang magka-jowa, hanggang magka-asawa, hanggang magkaanak," Guevarra said.

"It's such an honor to be part of someone's life, to be part of someone's journey, grateful kami sa lahat po ng nakikinig sa aming music. It is because of you na we still get to do what we love to do, kayo po ang nagiging tulay para matupad patuloy ang mga pangarap namin," he added.
