The six-track EP "Black Out" marks Chanyeol's official solo debut, despite his previous releases of several solo tracks.

"Today I will have the rookie's mindset instead of a singer with 12 years of experience," the 31-year-old singer said via subtitles in a YouTube livestream held ahead of the EP's release.

"I am so excited and nervous and thrilled," he added.

Chanyeol described the title track "Black Out" as an uptempo pop-rock song with "minimal acoustic guitar and synth sounds."

"This song is about the instability after a breakup which is expressed as a blackout," he said.

The singer, whose full name is Park Chan-yeol, said he hoped to put out a full-length album.

Chanyeol is set to embark on a tour, which includes a stop in Manila in October.

Chanyeol debuted in 2012 as a member of the boy band EXO, known for hits like "Growl," "Ko Ko Bop," and "Love Shot." He is also a part of the sub-unit EXO-SC alongside bandmate Sehun, who is currently fulfilling his mandatory military service.
