P-pop girl group G22 expressed their excitement and gratitude after performing alongside P-pop supergroup SB19 and K-pop icon Sandara Park at a tech company event Sunday night.

“Last night still feels like a dream. It was so amazing, the opportunity we had to collaborate with such incredible artists and also have that stage for our songs to perform. We are so grateful, and it was truly a milestone for us,” G22 member Jaz said during a press conference held Monday,.

Fellow G22 member Alfea admitted they felt nervous at first. “Nung nakikita namin mga tao sa labas kinakabahan kami at the same time nafi-feel namin sobrang thankful kami. 'Yung maka-collab namin sila kuya sa SB19 then si ate Sandara, isa talaga sa pinapangarap namin before.”

The group, often referred to as a power trio, also addressed the pressure of being the newest P-op group in the scene, especially with established groups like BINI and SB19 making waves internationally.

“There’s always been pressure. We want to be better than yesterday, and G22 will always strive for excellence. That’s why every day we pressure ourselves to train,” G22 member AJ said.

Despite the competition, G22 emphasized their commitment to the growth of Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

“Sa song namin na ‘Boomerang,’ there’s a line that says, ‘this is not a competition but a revolution.’ P-pop is a revolution, not a competition, kasi isa lang naman tayo ng goal, na umangat ang P-pop. At kung competition man, friendly competition na walang dinadrag pababa,” AJ added.

Looking ahead, G22 hopes to collaborate with other prominent OPM artists like Ben&Ben and Yeng Constantino. Since their debut in 2022, the group has released nine songs, steadily building a name for themselves in the local music industry.
