<p>Iza Calzado starred in her first theater play back in 2015 in <em>Sabel: Love and Passion</em> directed by Freddie Santos. </p><p>This year, Iza is headlining the theater play titled <em>Tiny Beautiful Things </em>which runs until December 8 at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Circuit Makati⁠. <em></em></p><p>In an interview with Bianca Gonzalez on <em>The B Side</em> of Cinema One, Iza was asked why it took her nine years before doing a play again</p><p>&quot;Economics. I mean you have a contract. You have to fulfill certain numbers of working days. It&#x27;s weighing options of making this much money versus making this much money,&quot; she explained.</p><p>The actress remarked that with the rise of content creation as a new income stream, she has gained the liberty now to do other things besides film and TV. </p><p>&quot;What has happened now, because of content creation, I feel that I am given little more liberty to do things,&quot; she said.</p><div><iframe width="1263" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RaJkWFdCV70" title="FULL INTERVIEW with Iza Calzado | The B Side | Cinema One" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>The actress further explained: &quot;We need money. Theater doesn&#x27;t pay anywhere near what TV or film pay me on a daily basis. For any actor, not just me, everybody, layo. But parang iniisip ko lang, Ben (Wintle) asked me a long time ago, &#x27;What is your ideal state?&#x27; I said I will do films, plays, and maybe short-form TV series and this year I managed to do films and a play so my desire to go back on stage has been there and hopefully this will not be my last.&quot;</p><p>Iza described acting on stage as &quot;very inspiring&quot; and hoped to star in more plays down the road. &quot;Hopefully I get to do a play if not every year, closer to every other year. It is also nerve-wracking. We&#x27;re still reblocking a lot of things kasi kakapasok lang namin sa teatrong ito. Ganun pala, you&#x27;re given one week and of course we were just rehearsing in the studio before, that was pantay-pantay &#x27;yung level. Ngayon, we&#x27;re seeing it, we&#x27;re feeling it, major adjustments,&quot; she relayed.</p><p>On her physical preparations for the play, Iza shared: &quot;You have to treat yourself like an athlete so I have to sleep as early as I can... I am doing a lot of vitamin drips. I am just preparing and fueling myself to just be in the moment, be in the present moment, and know that all the preparations will add up and lead to something good for all of us.&quot;</p>
