Rica Peralejo shares why she got into fitness: ‘It really is like therapy as well’

<p>Actress Rica Peralejo described her fitness journey as some form of therapy that she goes through. Now that she entered her fitness journey, she shared how it was helping her not just physically but also mentally. </p><p>“You know how they say endurance sports is like good for people who have trauma… ‘Cause when you endure, it means you’re not really just going through an easy thing, it’s hard. It’s what we do–– me going on my 21k–– this is like the farthest I’ve gone,” she shared.</p><p>“We know how it hurts the feet, the body, the mind, everything. Yet, when you surpass that, you’re able to overcome it,” she added.</p><p>Rica added how running helped her attain that certain mindset of overcoming trauma in her life. Just like endurance sports, she maintained that it allowed her to “endure” and heal from the past traumas that she wasn’t able to overcome then. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/2024/1/7/rica-peralejo-calls-out-netizen-following-lgbtqia-hate-1114"><strong><u>READ: Rica Peralejo calls out netizen following LGBTQIA+ hate</u></strong></a></div><p>“I think that’s what you get when you have trauma in your life na you overcome something. Which is something that you didn’t have when that traumatic incident happened in your life. I feel like it tells you that even if there were things in the past that you weren’t able to overcome, it doesn&#x27;t mean that you can no longer overcome anything in your life,” she explained.</p><p>She then revealed that one of her traumas is when she started working at a young age. Despite this, she remained grateful for the experience and the opportunity that was given to her during the peak of her career. </p><p>Meanwhile, Rica is set to star in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival 2025 entry <em>Manila’s Finest.</em> This marks the actress’s comeback to the acting world after several years on hiatus in the industry. </p>

<p>For Rica Peralejo, getting into fitness is a form of therapy for her as well.</p>
