<p>Actress-turned-politician Aiko Melendez confirmed that she and her longtime partner, Congressman Jay Khonghun, have decided to part ways. She didn’t disclose the reason as to what caused the separation but maintained no third party was involved.</p><p>“After four months of reflection and careful consideration, Congressman Jay Khonghun and I, Councilor Aiko Melendez, have mutually decided to part ways and go our separate directions. This decision was not made lightly but comes from a place of respect and understanding of what is best for both of us at this time,” she told Ogie through text.</p><p>Aiko then expressed her gratitude towards her fans who showed their support during their relationship. Moving forward, she and her ex-politician partner will be focusing on serving their constituents. </p><p>“We remain grateful for the memories we shared and for other support many of you have shown throughout our journey together. Our focus now is to move forward with grace. Thank you for your support and prayers,” she ended. </p><p>Previously, Aiko opened up about her relationship with Jay in an interview with Ogie. She shared how he has become a father figure to her children. </p><p>“They’re close. He’s the one boyfriend I had my kids found approachable. They go to him when they have problems. Marthena talks to him. He and Andre go out,” she previously said.</p><p>Aiko publicly confirmed her relationship with Jay back in 2018. </p>
