<p>K-Pop girl group TWICE member Chaeyoung is taking a temporary break from all professional activities after being diagnosed with vasovagal syncope, her agency announced on November 20.  </p><p>In its official statement, JYP Entertainment explained that Chaeyoung was instructed to rest after the diagnosis.  </p><p>“Chaeyoung was recently diagnosed with vasovagal syncope and has been advised to take a period of rest based on medical consultations.”  </p><p>The agency noted that further reviews confirmed she needed more time to recover. Because of this, the singer “will pause her activities through the end of the year” to focus on her health.</p><p>“Based on additional evaluations, medical advice, and in depth discussions, it has been concluded that Chaeyoung needs further time for recovery. As a result, she will temporarily pause her activities through the end of the year in order to prioritize her health and rest.”  </p><p>The announcement also said that Chaeyoung may be permitted to participate in their upcoming schedules but only in a “limited extent” and that she could be absent from certain commitments.  </p><p>According to Harvard Health Publishing, vasovagal syncope “occurs when the vagus nerve, which carries signals from the brain to the rest of the body and controls functions including heart rate and blood pressure, becomes overstimulated in response to triggers such as stress, dehydration, or donating blood. The heart rate slows and blood vessels widen, causing a drop in blood pressure and reduced blood flow to the brain. The agency thanked supporters for their understanding and promised to provide whatever assistance she needs during her recovery period.</p>
