<p>Jimmy Regino, member of the OPM group April Boys and brother of the late OPM icon April Boy Regino, has passed away, as confirmed by his family on Saturday.</p><p>In a Facebook video posted on December 27, April Boys member Vingo Regino broke the news to fans, speaking through tears as he shared the loss of his brother and bandmate. </p><p>“Sa lahat po ng fans ng April Boys ibinabalita ko po sa inyo na pumanaw na ang po ang kapatid ko na si Jimmy. Hindi na natin maririnig ang boses niya,” he said, marking another painful chapter for the family and the group.</p><p>Vingo went on to reflect on their bond as brothers and as musicians, describing the weight of the loss and the memories that continue to surface. </p><p>“Ang hirap po ng mawalan ka ng minahal mo na kapatid. Yung pinagsamahan po namin naaalala ko hanggang ngayon. Kahapon pa ako umiiyak. Kahapon pa ako malungkot na malungkot. Hindi ko malaman kung ano ang nararamdaman ko ngayon,” he shared.</p><div style="text-align:center"><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=476&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F772803179164556%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=267&amp;t=0" width="267" height="476" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>As he spoke, Vingo recalled one of the group’s well-loved songs and how its lyrics now resonate with his grief. </p><p>“Naalala ko yung kanta naming &#x27;Ganyan Talaga ang Pag-ibig,&#x27; [yung lyrics na] &#x27;alaala na iniwan mo kapag naisip ko nalulungkot ako,&#x27; totoo yung lyrics na iyon,” he said, tying his personal pain to the music that defined their career.</p><p>Vingo also shared details of Jimmy’s final days, saying his brother had been hospitalized for some time and seemed to be waiting for one last meeting.</p><p>“Sinasabi ko lang po sa inyo yung nararamdaman ko. Mahal na mahal ko yung kapatid ko. Masakit yung nangyari sa akin na nawalan ng kapatid. Para bang hinintay na lang niya na magkita kami kahapon. In 1995, April Boy, the eldest among the brothers, left the group to pursue a solo career, but the April Boys remained active through the years. </p><p>The group is remembered for hits such as “Honey My Love (So Sweet),” “Ikaw Pa Rin Ang Mamahalin,” “Sana Ay Mahalin Mo Rin Ako,” “Tunay Na Pag-Ibig,” and “Pag-Ibig Kong Litong-Lito,” songs that became staples for fans of romantic OPM.</p><div><strong><u>READ: In Memoriam: April Boy Regino and his career’s greatest hits</u></strong></div><p>The Regino family previously mourned the loss of April Boy, who died in November 2020 at the age of 59. Following his passing, his son JC continued the family’s musical legacy.</p><p>As of this writing, Vingo has yet to disclose the cause of Jimmy’s death. Details regarding his wake and funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days.</p>
