<p>Dingdong Dantes paid tribute to veteran actress and industry advocate Boots Anson-Rodrigo, as he proudly presented her with a lifetime achievement award at the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) in Los Angeles, California on March 7, 2025.</p><p>On his Instagram page, the actor wrote: &quot;Last night, I had the distinct honor of presenting the Monty Manibog Lifetime Achievement Award to my former professor turned industry pillar, Boots Anson-Rodrigo.&quot;</p><p>Dingdong highlighted that beyond her celebrated career as an actress, Boots has been a steadfast advocate for filmmakers&#x27; rights, a cause she has championed for more than 25 years through MOWELFUND (Movie Workers Welfare Foundation).</p><p>&quot;She’s been a leading lady on screen, but her biggest role has been behind the scenes—championing the welfare of our industry for over 25 years at MOWELFUND, where I now have the privilege of working alongside her,&quot; he remarked.</p><p>Dingdong emphasized her lasting impact on the industry, saying: &quot;She’s proof that true icons don’t just shine in the spotlight—they use it to uplift others. It showcased various Filipino films, including the movies from the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival.</p><p>Dingdong, who advocates for the rights of those in the TV and movie industry, became part of the Board of Trustees of MOWELFUND  in October 2023.</p><p>&quot;I had always prayed for a chance where my passion could make a difference, where my deepest enthusiasm could intersect with meaningful purpose. As fate would have it, I found myself embracing that dream through Mowelfund — an institution with the primary goal of uplifting, empowering, and advancing the welfare of the men and women in front of and behind the movie and TV industry,&quot; the actor wrote in an Instagram post back in 2023 as he marked this milestone in his life. &quot;I received an invitation to be part of their Board of Trustees, and saying yes to this was probably one of the easiest decisions I have had to make.&quot;</p><p>Dingdong expressed his gratitude to be given this new role saying, &quot;I am grateful that I now have the privilege to give back to the industry that has been a significant part of my life, and drawing from the wisdom acquired during my tenure at the Yespinoy Foundation, I lend my expertise to support the dedicated individuals who bring magic to our screens.&quot;</p>
