Sharon Cuneta mourns passing of her pet pig Bacon: ‘Our hearts are crying’

<p>Known to everyone as one of the biggest celebrity animal lovers in the country, Sharon Cuneta shared some sad news on her Instagram account last March 4 with the passing of one of the senior animals living on their three-hectare farm located in Alfonso, Cavite who was also considered the resident farm mascot.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/showbiz/celebrities/2025/1/29/sharon-cuneta-encourages-fans-to-support-local-animal-shelter-napakasarap-magmahal-ng-aso-1014"><strong>READ: Sharon Cuneta encourages fans to support local animal shelter: ‘Napakasarap magmahal ng aso’<br/></strong></a></div><p>In her post, Sharon couldn’t help but get emotional upon losing their lovable pot-bellied big. She wrote, “Our hearts are crying…😪😪😪 Our favorite pig in our farm, our Bacon, suddenly passed away. She just refused to wake up that morning, having refused food for a couple of days before then. We love you, our baby girl… Thank you for the love and happiness you gave all of us - even your barkada, our farm dogs (because you forgot you were a pig the moment the piggies ostracized you but the dogs were kind - that you even learned how to &#x27;bark&#x27; like them!) We will always remember you and will always love you.&quot;</p><p>She added, &quot;On March 1, 2025, Bacon our farm mascot breathed her last. She was 13 years old. Ako ang nagpangalan sa kanya na Bacon. Kasi, nung pinanganak siya kasama ng mga kapatid niya, siya ang pinakamahina, di siya makalapit para mag-suckle sa nanay niya. So kinuha ng caretaker namin at sa bote pinadede ng milk. Nung lumakas na siya after a few days, binalik na siya sa nanay at mga kapatid niya.</p><p>&quot;Aba—patakbong bumalik sa bahay ng caretaker namin! Ayaw na niya! Akala yata niya sila mga piggies pero siya hindi! Hahahaha! Nag-iingay at &#x27;kumakatok&#x27; siya sa door ng bahay ng caretaker namin pag sarado at gusto niya pumasok. Doon din siya natutulog sa room nila. At sumasama siya maligo sa banyo! May identity crisis itong si Bacon namin—akala niya yata puppy siya o little girl na tao! Hahaha!”</p><p>Also a staunch advocate for animal welfare, Sharon recently adopted a rescued puppy named Scout from Pawssion Project Philippines. The 59-year-old actress also declined Christmas and birthday gifts last year and made a call for for followers to consider donating to the animal shelter instead.</p><p>Earlier this year, Sharon was also recognized for her generous donations to the a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of abused and neglected animals located in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Sharon was also previously one of the celebrity ambassadors for the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). </p>
