EXCLUSIVE: Vhong Navarro hints at dream sci-fi fantasy role; doesn’t mind playing supporting parts

Vhong Navarro has portrayed several iconic roles throughout his career, including Mr. Suave, Gagamboy, Agent X44, and Supahpapalicious. But if given the chance, there is still one role he has always dreamed of playing.During the press conference for his latest film Child No. 82, PUSH ABS-CBN had the exclusive opportunity to speak with the actor-host. Actually, isa ako sa bumuo ng proyekto na ito. Para akong artificial intelligence parang isang hindi human. Binuo ko siya actually, prinisent ko siya sa Star Cinema before. Na-approve pa yun noon kaya lang talagang ang dami nangyayari, shutdown and everything tapos parang si Inang pa yun, si Inang Olivia Lamasan. Nag-present kami parang nagustuhan niya,” he shared.Vhong also expressed his willingness to pursue the project if given the opportunity: “Gusto ko pa rin siyang ituloy. Hindi ko alam, sana merong producer na magtiwala kung hindi naman baka ako na mag-produce nun. So, bumebwelo lang.”The <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/itsshowtime">It&#x27;s Showtime</a> host added that he has always been passionate about exploring the creative side of filmmaking beyond acting.“Yung Unli-Life, konsepto ko yun. Meron ako mga (as) writers na rin. Tapos yung isa pa sa Regal nagawa ko naman kami ni Lovi (Poe) na nag-switch kami yun parang may ganun din akong contribution. Iba lang yung pangalan ko,” he revealed.Vhong also shared how hands-on he has been in his past projects.“Pag may ginagawa ako, like yung Mr. Suave, talaga nasa set ako. Kasi mas ma-visualize ako eh, so pag nandun ako sa set, mas nakikita ko yung ano yung pwede ko pang magawa, madagdag don sa character ko o sa eksena at hindi lang para sa akin din eksena rin yung sa mga co-actors ko ano yung pwede ko madagdag,” he told PUSH ABS-CBN.He went on: “Kaya si Direk Joyce (Bernal) gusto niyan na gawin na, papaagahin niya yung call time ko kahit halimbawa ang shooting ko gabi pa, andun na ako ng maaga kasi parang nagbabatuhan kami ng suggestions niya para sa akin tapos yun para mapaganda yung proyekto hanggang sa umabot na sa  X-44, sa ‘D Anothers, o kung ano-ano pang project namin.”<div style="text-align:center"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1744707665689Vhong-Navarro-hints-at-dream-sci-fi-fantasy-role-doesnt-mind-playing-supporting-parts_.jpg" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div>Meanwhile, Vhong, who is set to make his acting comeback in his first Cinemalaya entry Child No. 82, shared that he doesn’t mind playing supporting roles to give opportunities to newer actors.“Thankful ako kasi mayroon ulit tayong bagong project. May nagtiwala uling producer, director. And now, supporting ako. Sabi ko wala namang problema. Kasi iniisip ko parang pag-Hollywood parang wala nang problema pag support ka ‘di ba? Kasi kaya, actor ko eh. So, walang problema kung ano yung mataas at maliit na role para sa dapat lahat kaya mong gawin,” Vhong shared.Child No. 82 is set to premiere at the 2025 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival. It stars Pinoy Big Brother breakthrough star JM Ibarra in the title role.
