<p>Nic Chien, son of Broadway icon Lea Salonga, shared his thoughts on being Filipino.</p><p>In a video released by Theatre Group Asia in celebration of Mother’s Day and Heritage Month, Nic reflected on what he loves most about Filipino culture.</p><p>&quot;My favorite thing about the Filipino culture is how talented everybody is. Everybody is so talented it&#x27;s become such a normal thing,&quot; he remarked. &quot;And it makes me really happy that it&#x27;s like, yeah I&#x27;m Filipino. Of course I&#x27;m talented.&quot;</p><p>Nic also spoke about the cheerfulness of Filipinos. &quot;I think I didn&#x27;t notice this for a while, but a lot of foreigners notice this when they go to our country, and they say, &#x27;You guys are so happy. It&#x27;s a well-earned joy. And yes, we sing, really, really well,&quot; the Broadway star remarked.</p><p>When asked how being Filipino shapes his everyday life in America, Nic relayed: &quot;You definitely feel it way more than you would in the Philippines because I feel like, not everybody is Filipino and I normally on a day-to-day basis I would see people who look like me, now I don&#x27;t. I don&#x27;t relly get to have that. And I have to kind of feel like the representative of my country in the school because I&#x27;m the only Filipino kid.&quot;</p><p>Nic is set to play the role of Jack in August in the Philippine production of<em> Into the Woods</em>, where he will star alongside Lea who will take on the role of the Witch.</p>
