Alora Sasam shares her journey from being a nurse to becoming an actress

Before pursuing a career in entertainment, Kapamilya actress Alora Sasam revealed that she was a nurse.In an interview with Kring Kim for her Think Talk Tea podcast, Alora remarked that despite being in the medical field, her dream had always been to become an actress.&quot;Dati ko pang pangarap talaga na maging artista, secretly, hindi ko sinasabi kasi alam mo naman sa probinsya di ba, kapag hindi ka maputi, di ka kagandahan, [sasabihin ng iba] &#x27;Uy hindi mo deserve maging artista. Bakit ka nagdream-dream ng ganyan?&#x27; So siyempre quiet-quiet lang ako,&quot; she recalled.She noted that many of her family members were already working in the medical field. &quot;Eh sa family namin maraming successful sa medical field kaya gusto ng parents ko na nursing tsaka sobrang successful kasi ang dami pang clamor sa US. Tapos nung nag-graduate na kami dun na &#x27;yung nag-recession ata,&quot; she said.Alora studied nursing in Cagayan de Oro and eventually passed the nursing board exam.She reflected on her time as a nurse, saying it was a deeply fulfilling job. &quot;Alam mo ang pagiging nurse sobrang alam mong achievement talaga sa buhay, &#x27;yung parang may nagawa ka talagang mabuti. Dun ko rin na-appreciate na kapag may patient akong nakikita kunwari sa fast food, nakapag-pedia [ward] kasi ako. After ko mag-take ng board sa pedia ward ako na-assign. So sa mga fast food nakikita mo &#x27;yung family ng patient, tapos lalapit sa&#x27;yo [at sasabihing], &#x27;Ma&#x27;am thank you so much.&#x27; Parang ang saya. After completing the workshop, she was then advised to continue the training in Manila.Alora worked for six months as a nurse before taking a bigger leap towards her passion by joining a Star Magic acting workshop in Manila.She later auditioned for then-Star Magic head Johnny Manahan and landed a role in the teen series Luv U in 2012, her official entry into show business.This year, Alora is set to star in the Philippine adaptation of It&#x27;s Okay to Not Be Okay.
