<p>MANILA (UPDATED) -- Music legend Freddie Aguilar passed away on early Tuesday, May 27. He was 72.</p><div> </div><p>This was confirmed to ABS-CBN News by Aguilar&#x27;s former partner Josephine Quiepo. Josie had children with the singer, including Maegan.</p><div><br/></div><div><br/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1748317278685New Project (1).jpg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><p>Another source of ABS-CBN News has cited that the OPM legend has been in the hospital and was being prepped to undergo angioplasty.</p><div> </div><p>&quot;He&#x27;s been sickly recently. He was admitted sa Heart Center for angioplasty but he suffered from multiple organ failure that caused his death,&quot; the source said.</p><div> </div><p>As of writing, the topic &quot;Freddie Aguilar&quot; is among the top trending topics on X as netizens remembered the OPM legend and expressed sympathies and condolences for his family.</p><div> </div><p>Born Ferdinand Pascual Aguilar, fondly called as Ka Freddie, he started performing in the early &#x27;70s.</p><div> </div><p>Aguilar was one of the Filipino musicians who made it to the global music scene with his hit &quot;Anak,&quot; a song about the love of parents for their wayward child. It was his apology to his parents after he left their home at the age of 17.  </p><div> </div><p>&quot;Anak&quot; was a finalist in the first Metropop Song Festival. It was released in March 1978 and translated in various languages worldwide.
