<p>Veteran entertainment journalist and talent manager Lolit Solis has passed away which was confirmed by her colleague Gorgy Rula through a Facebook post. The late showbiz columnist and host has had one of the most colorful runs in the entertainment industry with her no-nonsense way of reporting.</p><p>While she may have been involved in several controversies over the past decades that she’s been active, Lolit has proven to many Filipinos that she is one to face these problems head on. Let’s take a look back at some of the controversies that have been ingrained in Filipino entertainment history that the late showbiz reporter was a part of. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>1994 Manila Film Festival</strong></div><p>The 1994 Manila Film Festival scandal is considered as one of the biggest controversies in the Philippine entertainment industry. In 2007, the late veteran columnist alleged that Kapamilya actors Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby were spotted together being romantic. However, this had been already disproven by the two stars.</p><p>A ₱12-million libel case was filed against Lolit due to the statements she wrote and shared on her then-talk show, <em>StarTalk. </em></p><p>“We are suing because our dignity and integrity have been assailed and put to question. We are aggrieved by her article and her subsequent efforts to explain herself at our expense,” Piolo previously shared in a statement.</p><p>It was only when she retracted her statement did the charges filed against her were dropped. Despite this, Lolit would continue with her colorful career in the entertainment industry as she would continue to host and write. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Expulsion of Lolit Solis from PAMI</strong></div><p>In 2022, the late entertainment journalist would be expelled from the Professional Artist Managers Inc. after she was found guilty of breaching PAMI’s confidentiality agreement. Ayoko ng para akong gun moll na kinatakutan, kinainisan, ikinagalit ng sinuman. Gusto na naging fair ako sa dealing ko sa mga nakasama ko, na minahal ako ng mga taong malapit sa akin,” she previously remarked.</p><p>These are just some of the controversies that Lolit was a part of. More than her controversies, the late talent manager has been known to many of her previous talents to be a caring and loving person.</p><p>Known to them as Nanay Lolit, she will forever have one of the most iconic runs in the showbiz industry. </p>
