John Prats reflects on the shift in love team culture then and now

<p>Actor-director John Prats weighed in on the evolution of love team culture from the early 2000s to today.</p><p>John, who was paired with Heart Evangelista during the early 2000s, pointed out that part of the charm of love teams back then was the mystery, as social media was still non-existent.</p><p>&quot;&#x27;Yung difference lang noon &#x27;yung mystery ng love team at ng artista, iba. Kasi ikaw kung fan ka, may artista kang gusto, hindi mo nakikita kung ano &#x27;yung ginagawa niya sa bahay. Hindi mo nakikita kung ano &#x27;yung ginagawa niya sa pang-araw-araw,&quot; he shared in an interview with Luis Manzano for his YouTube vlog.</p><p>He further explained how fans used to only know the characters portrayed on television. &quot;Ang nakikita mo lang sa kanya siya &#x27;yung character na napanonood ko sa telebisyon. &#x27;yun lang. So &#x27;yung mystery laging nandun so ang kilala lang nila sa amin is like Yuan, the charactter in <em>G-mik</em>, John as the drummer, &#x27;yun lang so hindi namin talaga napapakita kung sino talaga kami and okay din siya in a way na may mystery sa fans,&quot; the actor pointed out. </p><div><iframe width="1164" height="663" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kDNl2ZqozD8" title="LUIS LISTENS TO JOHN PRATS (3 Decades of Career, Growth and the Heart He Once Knew) | Luis Manzano" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>John also emphasized how much things have changed, especially with social media giving fans direct access to celebrities&#x27; lives nowadays. &quot;Ngayon kasi may access na sila eh like when we post on social media, na-on mo lang &#x27;yung kumbaga &#x27;yung comment section, lahat &#x27;yan, pati sa comment section mo may sasabihin na silang hindi nila gusto or ano, may karapatan na sila. And hindi naman nila fault &#x27;yun kasi tayo rin we allow them to do that, kung ayaw natin eh di huwag nating gawin,&quot; he said.</p><p>In the same interview, John looked back on his former love team with Heart. &quot;Kami initial meeting namin hindi ko siya talaga gusto, wala talagang attraction at all pero kinakagat ng tao ng malala,&quot; he recalled.</p><p>Through the support of their fans, John recounted how their love team thrived. &quot;So &#x27;yung pagiging love team namin ni Heart, talagang taong bayan &#x27;yung nag-dictate kung paano, as in talagang dati through email, letters, papadala sa ABS-CBN box-box ng letters &#x27;yun para sa mga artista. Dun nagsimula &#x27;yung John and Heart,&quot; John shared. </p>
