<p>MANILA — A lawmaker filed a House resolution seeking to nominate late actor Rodolfo &quot;Dolphy&quot; Quizon, Sr. for National Artist for his “magnificent body of work and championing of Filipino values for all generations of Filipinos.”</p><p>Manila 3rd District Rep. Joel Chua filed House Resolution No. 41 on July 9, Wednesday, a day before the late comedian’s 13th death anniversary. </p><p>The National Artist is the highest national recognition given to individuals who made significant contributions to Philippine arts and culture. </p><p>The House resolution orders the House committees on Creative Industries and Basic Education &amp; Culture to conduct hearings and other steps to formally nominate Quizon to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. </p><p>Quizon, who died in 2012 due to multiple organ failure, was interred at Heritage Park in Taguig City. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/10/30/21/quizon-family-scraps-plan-to-move-dolphy-out-of-heritage-park">Quizon family scraps plan to move Dolphy out of Heritage Park</a></div><p>The “King of Comedy,&quot; was well-known for multiple iconic shows such as the long-running shows &quot;John en Marsha&quot; and &quot;Home Along da Riles,&quot; as well as movies like &quot;Omeng Satanasia&quot; and &quot;Markova Comfort Gay.&quot;</p><p>ABS-CBN named its Dolphy Theater after the late actor.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/showbiz/celebrities/2025/3/19/eric-quizon-reacts-to-dolphy-theater-demolition-kris-aquino-s-health-battle-0907">Eric Quizon reacts to Dolphy Theater demolition, Kris Aquino’s health battle</a></div>
