Joaquin Arce on stepmom Angel Locsin: 'She's my mentor when it comes to acting'

<p>Kapamilya actor Joaquin Arce expressed his admiration for his stepmother, acclaimed actress Angel Locsin, whom he considers his mentor in acting.</p><p>&quot;She&#x27;s my mentor when it comes to acting. We are really close,&quot; he remarked in an interview with MJ Felipe on <em>Are You G?</em> of TFC.</p><p>Joaquin recalled how Angel once guided him during an audition, even taking on the role of director.  &quot;She actually directed one of my auditions before; like she&#x27;s the one who told me, &#x27;Oh you should do it like this. Okay pwesto ka diyan’,&quot; he recounted.</p><p>He added how Angel went beyond giving advice and demonstrated how to deliver the lines herself. &quot;She demonstrated how to say lines... She just snaps her finger and she said the line of the character I was supposed to play out, and it&#x27;s like, how did she do that? And that&#x27;s also one of the moments na like, man I want to be like that. Ako rin nagulat ako like nasa kotse ako, nagscro-scroll ako sa Instagram, biglang one minute ago nag-post si Tita Angel sa Story niya so binasa ko: &#x27;Can&#x27;t wait to work with you...&#x27;,” he recalled. </p><p>It’s not something Joaquin takes lightly. “I feel like I have to earn it. I have to work for it,” he said. </p><p>In the same interview, Joaquin opened up about how he first got interested in acting. &quot;In 2023, na-invite po ako sa workshop, acting workshop ng Cornerstone. And it was that process, that workshop, tapos parang two weeks na I did it and I was just like, &#x27;I like this. I like what I did.&#x27;&quot;</p><p>He went on: &quot;It&#x27;s my first time memorizing lines. It&#x27;s my first time having kaeksena... And I love the process. I love correcting my mistakes, I love nailing scenes. I love the process of studying scripts... It wasn&#x27;t just one moment. It was <strong></strong>that entire workshop.&quot;<strong></strong><br/></p>
