Mikael Daez undergoes surgery after major leg injury: 'A very long road to recovery'

Mikael Daez revealed that he recently underwent surgery after he suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon.&quot;First major injury, first surgery 🫣 A few weeks ago, I ruptured my Achilles tendon… possibly the scariest basketball related injury I could imagine,&quot; he recalled. &quot;But at this point in my life, I guess we take whatever curveballs life throws at us.&quot;According to Mayo Clinic, Achilles tendon rupture is &quot;an injury that affects the back of your lower leg. It mainly occurs in people playing recreational sports, but it can happen to anyone. The Achilles tendon is a strong fibrous cord that connects the muscles in the back of your calf to your heel bone. If you overstretch your Achilles tendon, it can tear (rupture) completely or just partially.&quot;The actor highlighted that his first goal is to walk normally again to help his wife, Megan Young, look after their baby, Leon.&quot;My first goal is just to get back to walking normally so I can help Mama Bonez take care of Leon. Of course you shape them with discipline, etc. but their personality is something that’s just there,&quot; she relayed.Mikael further stressed the unpredictability of life, acknowledging that uncertainty will continue even after the arrival of their child, so he highlighted the importance of being flexible when it comes to parenting.&quot;We&#x27;re in the middle of our lives and the whole time that I have been alive, everything has always been an unknown. Nothing is certain and that doesn&#x27;t really change when you have a child. It&#x27;s still all unknown, you don&#x27;t know how your child is going to grow up. You can hope to influence it, hope to do the right thing but ultimately, the answer is, I don&#x27;t know what is going to happen,&quot; he said.The actor went on: &quot;We try our best, but we do not know and I&#x27;m okay with that. Parang I&#x27;ve come to accept na parang that&#x27;s what life is, and we make most out of the moments na you have presently, and for everything else moving forward you do your best and try to be flexible.&quot;
