Julia Barretto is excited to work with Enrique Gil again after 11 years

<p>More than a decade ago, Julia Barretto starred in her first lead role in the fantasy romance drama series <em>Mirabella</em> where she played the titular role. This year, the now 28-year-old actress gets reunited with one of her former leading men, Enrique Gil, from the 2014 ABS-CBN series. Na-pitch ito sa akin, I guess one year ago na rin. And I’m really excited that Enrique is on board because the last time na nagkatrabaho kami ni Quen was in <em>Mirabella</em>. I was 16, 17 years old. So that was in 2014, more than a decade ago. Stepping outside of her comfort zone as an actress, Julia explained why people are now seeing a more outgoing side to her. “Sila lang din kasi ang nagtatanong sa akin kung puwede bang kumanta ako. Eh di okay (laughs). Hindi niyo naman ako tinatanong so hindi ako kakanta (laughs). But it’s really been fun. It just pays to be yourself, to be funny, to be weird. It’s a space where everything is allowed as long as its something good and fun and of support sa isa’t isa. With the term “nepo baby“ being a buzz word nowadays, Julia has this to say: “Anak lang ako ni Marjorie Barretto. But I worked hard for what I have. Period. And I suggest you do the same.”</p><div><br/></div><p>At the same event, Julia shared how decisive she has been in spending her hard-earned money. What she doesn’t think twice about splurging on is her family, recently gifting her mom with a new car. For her, it is but right to take care of her mom and make life a bit easier for her if she can. “I love my mom more than anything in this world, and hindi pa nga yun enough sa mga ginawa niya para sa amin. But anything to make it easier for her and to make her happy,” she said.</p>
