<p>Maritoni Fernandez opened up about her recent medical checkup, sharing that she remains cancer-free, twenty-four years after overcoming breast cancer.</p><p>&quot;Went for my tomography checkup today, as I do every 6 months and am grateful to have received an all clear from my dear angel and friend, Dra Barbara Perez, from the breast center at St Lukes BGC who has been my primary physician for breast care for the past 24 years,&quot; she posted on her Instagram page.</p><p>According to Cleveland Clinic, digital breast tomosynthesis is a &quot;technologically advanced mammogram that’s excellent at detecting breast cancer, especially in dense breast tissue. Breast tomosynthesis is also known as 3D mammography because it uses a series of two-dimensional images to build a three-dimensional image of your breast.&quot;</p><p>Maritoni expressed her gratitude to God for blessing her with good health for the past two decades.</p><p>&quot;Today marks my 24th and a half year as a breast cancer survivor. The Lord has been so truly faithful and gracious to me. I am deeply deeply grateful my Abba Father! My daughter, Lexi, was my inspiration.  I wanted to see her grow up, graduate, get married, have children,&quot; she remarked.</p><p>Maritoni also underscored the importance of early detection and consistent medical monitoring.</p><p>&quot;Don’t be afraid to deal with breast cancer. If you have it, it’s better to catch it early and you can only do that by getting checked regularly. If you catch it late or ignore it, it won’t go away. So, the choice is a no-brainer — get checked and make sure you are okay. If you are not and sadly have it, get treatment right away,&quot; she stated.</p>
