<p>Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has shared an update on his wife, Cherry Seaborn, after she successfully underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in her arm.  </p><p>Speaking on the <em>Friends Keep Secrets</em> podcast hosted by Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco, the Grammy-winning singer reflected on both the happiest and most difficult moments of his life.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/showbiz/celebrities/2025/10/19/ed-sheeran-jokingly-introduces-boyfriend-online-1934" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>READ: Ed Sheeran jokingly introduces &#x27;boyfriend&#x27; online</strong></a></div><p>For Ed, one of his most joyful memories to date is his wedding to Cherry in 2019, with whom he now shares two daughters with, Lyra and Jupiter.  He also recalled that one of the most frightening moments came years later, when his wife called him with devastating news.</p><p>“The day when Cherry rung me up and said she had cancer, that was probably like the worst day,” he recalled.</p><div style="text-align:center"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1773574810364Edd-Shereen.jpg" style="width:660px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><p>Cherry was six months pregnant with their second child, Jupiter, at the time she was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor. Because of the pregnancy, doctors advised that surgery could not be performed immediately, forcing the couple to carry on with the pregnancy while waiting for a safer time for the operation.</p><p>Looking back now, Ed said his wife has recovered after finally undergoing the procedure following Jupiter’s birth.</p><p>“She’s fine, she had the operation,” he said. “She was pregnant at the time. That’s why it was difficult. She had the operation to remove the tumor after she given birth to our second child. And thankfully, touch wood, totally fine.”</p><p>Despite the positive outcome, the experience left a deep impact on the singer, describing it as “scary”.  </p><p>The health scare came during a particularly heavy period in Ed’s life. Around the same time, he was grieving the loss of close friend Jamal Edwards, the music entrepreneur who helped launch his career, as well as the sudden passing of cricket legend Shane Warne. Oh, and then Shane died, first day of the court case,” he shared.</p><p>In hindsight, the difficult circumstances changed how Ed viewed the long-running legal battle.</p><p>“Being in the court case though which, like, everything was building to that for like, eight years,” he said. “And then suddenly when you’re in the courtroom, it didn’t really matter. I would never agree to do anything like this but it made me think, ‘Oh if I died, what’s people’s perception of me? What do you leave behind?’ “</p><p>The emotional experience also affected Ed deeply. In the documentary, he admitted that the situation was difficult to process.</p><p>“It was horrible,” he said. </p><p>Music became one of his ways of coping with the fear and uncertainty surrounding Cherry’s diagnosis. According to the singer, he wrote seven songs in just four hours after learning about her condition. </p><p>Meanwhile, Ed was also asked on the podcast if he is hoping for a son after having two daughters, in which he replied: &quot;You know what? I don&#x27;t know. I don&#x27;t know. I think maybe I&#x27;d want another girl. I think. I don&#x27;t know.&quot;</p>
