JOLIN expresses gratitude and reflects on working with SB19 for ‘Emoji’

<p>Queen of C-Pop JOLIN took to social media to express gratitude and reflect on her collaboration with SB19 for their newly released song “Emoji.” </p><p>“Emoji” is one of the six newest tracks on SB19’s sophomore album <em>Wakas at Simula</em>, which brings together new songs alongside tracks from their EP trilogy: “Pagsibol”, “Pagtatag”, and “Simula at Wakas”. </p><div><br/></div><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/showbiz/celebrities/2026/3/24/sb19-marks-new-era-with-wakas-at-simula-highlighting-growth-and-global-reach-0838"><strong><u>READ: SB19 marks new era with ‘Wakas at Simula’, highlighting growth and global reach</u></strong></a></div><div><br/></div><p>In an Instagram post on March 27, JOLIN shared a glimpse of how she worked with the group in creating the song, where she also served as a composer alongside Ken and Pablo. For JOLIN, the collaboration began with uncertainty but quickly moved to something deeper.  </p><p>“Working with SB19 online felt like a blind date. My first thought: what should we even talk about? </p><p>Have you ever used a few emojis to replace a bunch of words – compressing complex emotions and social fluff into symbols to survive? </p><p>I realized I often hide unspoken, even turbulent feelings behind a &#x27;fine&#x27; emoji,” she wrote.  </p><p>The realization became the foundation of the song, as both artists discovered a shared emotional language despite their distance and cultural differences.  </p><p>“In our first online meeting, I typed: emoji, social, fake. They almost instantly nodded. Special thanks to Ken, who during production never hesitated to send❤️ to me, giving warm support and feedback. The video features the group in a vibrant metaverse where emotions are expressed through animated symbols and digital avatars, with JOLIN appearing and interacting with them in the virtual space. </p><p>Aside from JOLIN, Japanese boy group BE:FIRST also collaborated with SB19 for their dance-pop track “Toyfriend.” </p><p>During the album’s media launch, SB19 member Stell emphasized the significance of these international collaborations. </p><p>“Yun naman talaga yung goal namin, to go global,” he said. “I think it’s not only for us to show ‘yung skills ng SB19 but of course maipakita rin yung collaboration ng cultures together at maipakita yung kayang maitawid ng musika natin to other countries na willing to support our country.”</p>
