<p>Laila Chikadora has announced that she will be stepping away from radio broadcasting after 25 years, marking the end of a long and deeply personal journey on the airwaves that has connected her to generations of listeners. </p><p>The veteran TV and radio personality, whose real name is Jessica R. Asis, made the announcement on April 27 through a Facebook post, where she also shared a photo of herself facing the radio booth. </p><p>“The end of an era,” she began. </p><p>She went on to reflect on her long-running career and connection with listeners.  </p><p>“For over 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of being a guest in your homes, your cars, and your workplaces. From Monday to Friday, we’ve shared the rhythm of daily life. I was the silent witness to your stories through the songs I played—your heartbreaks, your triumphs, and your quiet moments. A lot of you grew old with me. You were my companions. You have been a massive part of my life, and you kept me going more than you’ll ever know.” </p><p>She added that despite radio being often described as a one-way medium, she never felt alone while on air because her listeners have been the “heartbeat behind every broadcast”.  </p><p>Laila said she is stepping away with a heart “full of gratitude” and confirmed that the last week of April will be her final week on air. </p><p>“Samahan niyo ako sa huling limang araw ko sa radyo. Let’s look back, share a few laughs, and maybe shed a tear or two. From her early days as a traffic reporter to becoming a staple in major stations like Magic 89.9, DZBB, Love Radio, WOW FM, and most notably MOR 101.9, she became more than just a broadcaster but a daily presence for Filipinos.  </p><p>In 2010, she left ABS-CBN. She currently leads <em>Shout Out </em>on 105.9 True FM, which will also serve as her final radio stint.</p>
