Jamie Bell stars as Duke Shelby in new ‘Peaky Blinders’ TV series

<p>Jamie Bell is stepping into the world of <em>Peaky Blinders</em> as he takes on the role of Duke Shelby in the franchise’s upcoming television continuation set in the 1950s. </p><p>In a press release by Netflix’s Tudum on April 4, Jamie was confirmed to portray Duke, the eldest son of Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy). The series will also mark the television debut of actress Lucy Karczewski. </p><p>Jamie is widely recognized for starring in the critically acclaimed dance-musical film <em>Billy Elliot</em>, which earned him a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Child Performance. His film credits also include <em>Rocketman, All of Us Strangers, Snowpiercer</em>, and <em>Fantastic Four</em>, among others.  </p><p>Originally debuting on BBC Two in 2013, <em>Peaky Blinders</em> drew inspiration from a real-life street gang operating after World War I.  </p><p>Netflix has yet to announce the official release date of the new sequel.</p>
