<p>Taking his first step into the world of pageantry, model-actor Wendell Pamfilo is eager to champion youth empowerment through sports as he competes in the upcoming Mister World Philippines 2026 on June 21.</p><p> During an intimate media conference, Wendell admitted feeling both pressure and excitement as he represents his father’s hometown, Nueva Ecija, in the national competition.</p><p> “I felt the pressure because this is my first time and also I was excited because my roots are also in Nueva Ecija and when I was a kid I had a vacation here and I have relatives there. (The competition) is big and I’ve been really contacting (my relatives) to let them know,” Wendell shared.</p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1780279167425Wendell Pamfilo wants to champion youth empowerment through sports  in Mister World Philippines.png" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/> <strong></strong></div><p> The 27-year-old model-actor was born in the Philippines before eventually moving to the United States with his family. Despite growing up abroad, Wendell decided to return home to pursue opportunities in the local entertainment industry.</p><p> “I got this opportunity, (this) opened up the door for me. Here in the Philippines, I stepped my foot on the door of show business in 2017. I’m still friends with people in showbiz,” Wendell shared.</p><p> Wendell also named what it was that kept drawing him back to the country, saying: “I think it&#x27;s the hospitality, the people because they are very welcoming and at the same time the beaches, the resorts. There are so many in La Union, in Boracay, I go there. It’s definitely why I keep going back to the Philippines.”</p><p>Having an active lifestyle himself, Wendell said he hopes to use the Mister World Philippines platform to encourage children and young people to become more physically active.</p><p> “For Mister World, my advocacy is youth empowerment through sports. I believe that the youth needs to have more activities. I see a lot of kids nowadays that are more on the screen, or (some) parents leave their kids onscreen. It’s very important for kids nowadays to have activities. Also I came up with the advocacy because of my little sister in the States. She is always on her screen so I told our mom why not put her in the clubs, so she is now more active,” he said.</p><p>“I want to be Mister World Philippines, because the (pageant) is a great opportunity to set on a new platform and to inspire others and never stop dreaming, never stop until you reach your goal,” he added.</p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1780279213767Wendell Pamfilo wants to champion youth empowerment through sports  in Mister World Philippines 2.png" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/> <strong></strong></div><p><strong> </strong>Beyond pageantry, Wendell hopes to further establish himself in acting and modeling in the Philippines.</p><p> “I love acting and I grew up watching actors like Piolo Pascual, FPJ and Coco Martin. Although he does not consider himself a singer yet, he hopes to learn more about the craft and possibly collaborate with his friend, Inigo Pascual.</p><p>“I like R&amp;B or pop because I’m a big fan of Justin Bieber,” he told <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/showbiz"><strong>PUSH ABS-CBN</strong></a>. “My good friend, Inigo Pascual, (I want to work with him) because he is really good in R&amp;B and Pop and hopefully one day we can make a song. For now, I will be focusing more on modeling and acting as well as this pageantry.”</p>
