Ruby Ruiz bares almost leaving acting career

<p>Award-winning actress Ruby Ruiz revealed that she almost decided to leave her acting career for a more stable job. In the recent vlog of Eugene Domingo, the veteran star explained the challenges she had in the past as an actress.</p><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="838" height="471" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/H1JzSKMswwE" title="RUBY RUIZ| Ayoko na! Last ko na dapat yun, ayaw ko na mag artista kasi single mom ako… Madami akong tinetext, inaano ng director, producer, EP–– kung ano ano. Sa isang buwan, lagi ako may sampu, sa sampu may sasagot na isa, buhay na kami ng anak ko,” she explained.</p><div><br/></div><p>Ruby added that as a single mother, she wanted to focus on raising her family. With limited shooting options for her back then, she decided it was enough.</p><div><br/></div><p>“Napagod na ako. Parang paano ‘to mag-aaral na ‘to parang di ko na kaya yung sa isang buwan, isa o dalawang shooting. Never pa naman ako nagkateleserye that time so sabi ko, tama na,” she expressed.</p><div><br/></div><p>“Unang-una, parang hindi naman ako sisikat. Hindi naman yun yung point ko, hindi naman yun yung objective ko [ang] maging sikat. Gusto ko lang, regular na trabaho,” she added.</p><div><br/></div><p>Ruby would then apply for jobs at a call center and a department store, for which she was accepted. </p><div><br/></div><p>“Meron naman akong karanasan sa retail nung nagsapalaran ako sa Canada, naging sales lady ako dun bukod sa nanny. Nanny by day, tindera by night sa isang Rustan’s nila. Nag apply na ako, natanggap ako sa pareho so pag pipilian ko nalang–– call center or sales associate,” she recalled. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/showbiz/movies-series/2026/6/22/ruby-ruiz-excited-as-internationally-acclaimed-film-first-light-finally-premieres-in-ph-0008" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>READ: Ruby Ruiz excited as &#x27;First Light&#x27; finally premieres in PH</strong></a></div><div><br/></div><p>But as luck would have it, the world of acting was simply meant for her as she was able to bag several lead roles–– both locally and internationally. In 2019, she landed her first lead role in the Theodore Borobol film, <em>I</em><em>ska. </em></p><div><br/></div><p>Just recently, her international film, <em>First Light</em>, made its local premiere last June. She played the role of Sister Yolanda, her first time to play a nun. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the veteran actress said she is excited for the Filipino audience to watch the film, which mirrors present-day realities.</p><div><br/></div><p>“I’m so happy, so proud that finally, the film <em>First Light</em>, which toured several festivals around the world, is now here to be watched by the Filipino audience,” she previously expressed. </p>
