Excitement is in full swing as Kapamilya stars have officially departed for Australia ahead of ASAP XP Sydney, where they are set to reunite with Filipinos abroad through two star-studded concerts on July 25.Leading the delegation are Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Ogie Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Erik Santos, Angeline Quinto, Melai Cantiveros, and other Kapamilya performers, all eager to bring the signature ASAP experience to the Filipino community in Sydney.For Zsa Zsa Padilla, the trip is also a sentimental homecoming. The singer shared that it has been years since she last visited Australia, a country she used to frequent while her daughter was studying there.“I’m very excited because it’s been a while since I’ve been to Australia. I used to frequent Australia because of my daughter. She studied there, so I miss it so much. I love Sydney. It’s a wonderful city,” she said.She also invited overseas Filipinos to watch both scheduled performances, promising that each show will offer a different experience.Meanwhile, Melai Cantiveros admitted that flying remains one of her biggest fears, but said she is determined to overcome it for the Kapamilyas waiting in Australia.Despite joking that boarding a plane is one of the biggest decisions she has to make, Melai said seeing fellow Filipinos abroad makes the trip worthwhile.“Sobra akong excited. Sana magkita tayo doon mga classmates at mag-enjoy tayo sa ASAP Australia,” she said.For Erik Santos, the concert carries a deeper meaning. As the son of an overseas Filipino worker, the singer said he understands the sacrifices many Filipinos abroad make for their families.“Anak ako ng OFW. Alam ko kung paano mawalay sa isang minamahal sa buhay,” he shared.He added that through their performances, the artists hope to bring “kahit man lang piraso ng Pilipinas” to Filipinos who have spent years away from home.Angeline Quinto echoed the same sentiment, saying she looks forward to singing for Filipinos in Australia, many of whom have not returned to the Philippines for years.She hopes their music will give audiences a chance to momentarily forget life’s burdens and simply enjoy being with fellow Filipinos.For Ogie and Regine Alcasid, the trip marks a nostalgic return to Sydney, where one of ASAP’s memorable overseas shows was held years ago.Regine recalled that the previous Australia concert was particularly meaningful because it marked her return to ASAP after a long hiatus.“It’s nice to be going back to Australia… reminiscing my first ASAP after a long, long time,” she said.Ogie added that every overseas ASAP show feels like a mission to bring joy to Filipinos living abroad.Regine also assured fans that both scheduled concerts will feature different production numbers packed with performances from some of the country’s biggest stars.“What our kababayans can expect is napakasaya ng show. Dalawang show po ’yan, and both are different. Puno-puno ng mga stars na naghanda para sa isang engrande, magarbo at bongang-bonggang ASAP XP,” she said.ASAP XP Sydney will stage two separate shows, giving audiences twice the opportunity to experience world-class Filipino entertainment while reconnecting with home through music, dance, and the Kapamilya spirit.
